What is HackforGood?
3D Africa’s HackforGood is an innovation accelerator for students, entrepreneurs and creatives. In this unique community, youth connect with other businesses and academic institutions to prototype products that accelerate growth, product innovation and job creation while delivering meaningful partnerships and global impact.

HackforGood2018 will bring together 50 incredibly talented women and men from universities and communities across Nigeria to innovate for good. Participants will have access to digital manufacturing tools and training. Working in teams, they will propose and build technology products that address real needs in their communities.

Theme
The theme this year is “Connect, Collaborate, Create for Good.” With your innovative mindset, you will have the opportunity to come up with the world’s most innovative solutions that will bring us closer to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Automation is inevitable. By 2050 as many as 47% of jobs will be automated, including yours. As innovations in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technology bring us virtual assistants, wearable health technology, autonomous vehicles, and more, many industries are transforming rapidly. While these new technologies have brought unimaginable benefits, they also are disrupting many industries and changing the way we work.

Participants will be asked to use digital technologies in creative, innovative ways to benefit people and the environment with a view to offering solutions in a range of fields including health, agriculture and security.

The goal of this challenge is to create mock-ups or prototypes of products, services and ideas that are able to generate social and economic value for the community by hacking common objects and using open data, public APIs, frameworks for fast prototyping and software development, micro-controllers, sensors, and 3D Printers.
