We are looking for innovation-oriented students to join our 2019 3D Africa Internship Program. The opportunity is for undergraduate students willing to carry out their industrial attachment (SIWES) while working on practical innovation projects. The internship duration is for one year for polytechnic students or six months for university students. The internship program is designed to provide students with relevant technical skills and soft skills required for the future of work. The opportunities are limitless!
3D Africa, an initiative of Youth For Technology Foundation serves undereducated students and recent university graduates in Nigeria. Its programs introduce, teach and mentor youths on cutting-edge technologies such as 3D Printing, Computer Aided Design, software development, embedded systems technology, Artificial intelligence, Machine learning etc.
3D Africa interns are exposed to technical training, leadership and ecosystem network in Nigeria. They have the opportunity to work with Youth for Technology Foundation (YTF) team in Nigeria. They form an integral piece of YTF’s core values and operations in helping to transform the continent from ‘Aid to Africa’ to ‘Made in Africa’.
Past internship cohorts at 3D Africa worked on projects that solve challenges in their immediate communities leveraging emerging technologies and available tools. Interns will be provided with access to 3D printers, laptops, micro-controllers, laser cutters, engineering kits and training in computer-aided design, software programming, hardware development, design thinking and communication skills. Each cohort is expected to develop a final project leveraging available tools and training acquired during the internship. Read Chinemerem’s internship experience at YTF. You will get the opportunity to become a 3D Africa Ambassador with access to post-internship opportunities and a chance of joining the YTF team fulltime upon graduation. Also, as an intern, you will be selected to participate in the 2019 HackforGood, an innovation challenge hosted in partnership with the education community and the private sector.
What makes you a rockstar student? We are looking for students who are tech-savvy, open to learning and willing to impart. Students with intermediate-level skills in either CAD, software programming, hardware development, graphics design or project management are welcome to roll with us on this journey. Basic communication skills and volunteer experience are added advantage. Female students and other usually under-represented demographics are highly encouraged to apply.
Selected students will work with our Nigerian team in Owerri, South Eastern Nigeria. The opportunity is not remote.
